Silk is well-known for being a material that significantly boosts the quality of your sleep while providing a number of other health and wellness benefits. Our SmartSilkTM Pillows come with a variety of benefits to ensure that you have a great night’s sleep:
Great For Boosting Health
One of the primary reasons why many consumers prefer silk pillows to conventional pillows is the many health benefits that can be gleaned from their use. Indeed, the SmartSilkTM team has designed all of our pillows with this in mind.
Through experimenting with different blends and tests, we are proud to hold a certification from The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (as well as The Asthma Society of Canada) for the anti-allergen and asthma-friendly properties of our SmartSilkTM pillows. Our pillows are great for reducing the number of allergens because of the unique silk blend of materials that we use. Each pillow is designed to allow for air to flow freely through its layers (keeping the material cool and dry) in order to keep allergens, pet dander and dust mites at bay. This free-flowing air will also prevent the growth of fungus or mould from affecting your health while you sleep.
Conventional anti-allergen pillows work by trapping allergens within the bedding material itself. This is only a short-term solution and may eventually require a replacement pillow. However, with SmartSilkTM pillows, you can be confident that you will experience a sleep uninterrupted by allergens or symptoms of asthma.
At SmartSilkTM, we also ensure that no harmful chemicals are used in the manufacturing of your pillow. We take pride in using all-natural materials that will boost your health and allow you to achieve a great night’s sleep without the risk of harm from chemicals.
For anyone who has ever encountered problems with bed bugs knows what a hassle they can be. Fortunately, silk pillows (and bedding) make a highly effective barrier against bed bugs – allowing you to sleep safe from these pests.
Although silk is a great material for use in high-quality bedding and pillows, many silk bedding manufacturers source this material from live silkworms. Many view this practice as inherently unethical and this may lead many consumers away from seeking out silk bedding to avoid harming silkworms.
Fortunately, SmartSilkTM has found a means of harvesting abundant amounts of silk for use in our products without the need to kill or harm silkworms. This process, known as no-kill extraction, involves waiting until the silkworm moth has hatched before harvesting the cocoon. Once these cocoons have dropped following the hatching of the silk moth, it is then boiled in order to clean out the silk material. The silk is then extracted by hand and dried.
This process results not only in an ethically made silk product but also produces some of the finest silk material available on the market today. Our team of quality control experts at SmartSilkTM keeps a close eye on the entire supply chain to ensure that both our ethical and quality standards are adhered to in the manufacturing of your pillow.
Stay Comfy With High-Quality Silk Pillows
Silk pillows are one of the best options for increasing the comfort of your sleep as well. Air flows much more easily through silk than through most other materials. This makes it highly effective for regulating your temperature while you sleep. You will find that the breathable materials in our SmartSilkTM pillows are great for allowing any excess heat to be easily whisked away.
The enhanced air circulation found in SmartSilkTM pillows is also ideal for those who struggle with excessive moisture during the night. Silk pillows are great for absorbing and removing moisture from your bedding as you sleep to increase your comfort and keep your bed clean.
Our silk pillows are also flame resistant to provide you with enhanced safety. They are also comfortable to sleep on whether you prefer to sleep on your side, your front or your back (see our fitting guide above).
Although it is usually more of a minor concern, silk pillows also reduce bedhead. This is because silk pillows provide less friction on your skin and hair while you move during your sleep.
