Certified Asthma and Allergy-Friendly
After an extensive trial period and series of tests, the SmartSilk™ silk-filled bedding has earned asthma and allergy-friendly certification. Certification from The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America as well as The Asthma Society of Canada ensures that all SmartSilk™ products, including our silk bedding, are an effective barrier against a wide variety of allergens, pet dander, as well as dust mites.
Asthma and allergy-friendly silk bedding works by reducing the number of allergens from your pillows, mattress, and comforter, eliminating your night-time allergy symptoms. Your bedding can do this in two ways: by containing the allergens or repelling them. Anti-allergy bedding made from synthetic materials will trap allergens and dust mites within the bedding so that they can’t be dispersed.
Oppositely, certain materials can actually repel allergens and dust mites instead of absorbing them. The silk material used in SmartSilk™ bedding provides cool and dry conditions where allergens cannot survive. If you are looking for the most reliable asthma and allergy-friendly bedding, this is the optimal option to get rid of allergens from your bed.
You will experience total protection with the SmartSilk™ silk bedding set as all of our products are free of any harmful chemicals. Your entire bed will be elegantly fitted with bedding that ensures you a proven barrier against allergens, dust mites, and pet dander.
Ethically Harvested Silk Materials
Silk fabric is made from the silk spun by silkworms for their cocoons while they are in their pupal stage—right before they become a moth. More traditional silk harvesting methods is typically viewed as a cruel practice as it can cause harm to the silkworms. However, the team behind SmartSilk™ has worked tirelessly to develop a way to harvest silk without hurting the animals that provide it; no-kill extraction.
The development of new silk extraction techniques has allowed for the harvesting of silk without the need to kill the silkworms it comes from. Through this method, the moth inside the cocoon is given the chance to hatch, harvesting the cocoons only once they have dropped from the silk moth. The cocoon is then boiled in water in order to clean the silk floss inside. After being extracted by hand, the silk floss is dried before being spun.
Each bale of silk is a specific weight that is then hand-pulled and stretched to fit our exact specifications. SmartSilk™ silk bedding products are filled with long strang grade A silk that has been customized to fit. The final step is to wash and clean the silk bedding fabric without using any harmful chemicals.
Trained quality control experts supervise the manufacturing process from start to finish in order to ensure that each product meets the high standards of quality that have been set.
Manufactured With Comfort in Mind
The SmartSilk™ complete silk bedding set has been designed with your comfort in mind so that you can enjoy the optimal sleeping conditions. Made of breathable, wicking material that helps absorb moisture, keeping you drier and more comfortable when you sleep.
Unlike when you sleep with down or synthetics, there is no need to worry about getting too hot or cold with our silk bedding options. Your body naturally produces heat that can get trapped under the comforter, causing a night of restless sleep. However, the SmartSilk™ superior silk bedding design allows for air to flow through the material, keeping your body at a comfortable temperature all night long. Similarly, you’ll stay warm with our silk bedding options as the quilted quality of the SmartSilk™ bedding guarantees that the silk fill will not shift in the middle of the night, avoiding cold pockets of air.
Additionally, SmartSilk™ products will not take on any unfortunate odours and is completely machine wash and dryable. Its breathable characteristic also means that the silk bedding is resistant to mould and mildew
Let your sleep be further enhanced as SmartSilk™ seamlessly forms to your body, while the breathable material naturally adjusts with your body temperature and the moisture-wicking properties naturally expel all humidity into the air.
